Football (Soccer)

Football was introduced into the Metropolitan Catholic Colleges (MCC) calendar in 1978 and has been a mainstay ever since. It has been a breeding ground for talented footballers and continues to be so after 38 years. The competition fields eight schools and six divisions ranging from U/13B’s to A Grade. The season comprises of playing each team once, with the top four moving on to semi finals and then a grand final to determine the winner.

MCC also fields a representative team made up of the best players in the A Grade competition. This team goes on to compete in the Combined Catholic Colleges (CCC) competition. This is the pathway to achieving selection in the NSWCCC team and the Australian Schoolboys football team, both of which the MCC has been a great contributor over the years.

The CCC Knockout competition is also a part of the MCC Football calendar. In A Grade this is accessed by winning the grand final. In the Year 10 & Under competition, a Gala Day is facilitated between the MCC schools and the winner moves onto the next level of the competition.
